Paul F. Shoemaker Minnesota Civil Litigation and Divorce | Family Law AttorneyPaul F. Shoemaker received his baccalaureate decree from the University of North Dakota College of Business Administration, Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1984, graduating magna cum laude. He received his Juris Doctorate degree, with distinction, from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1986. He was nominated by his law school professors for selection as a national member of The Order of Barristers in 1986 and received an American Jurisprudence Book Award in Conflicts of Law. He served as a Staff Editor of the North Dakota Law Review during 1985 and 1986, as President of the Bruce Van Sickle chapter of Delta Theta Phi in 1984-85, and as Student Director of Central Legal Research, University of North Dakota School of Law in 1985-86. He was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Minnesota and the Federal District Court of Minnesota in 1986. He was admitted to practice before the United States Court of Claims in 1994, and the United States Tax Court and the Supreme Court of the United States in 1999. In addition, he is admitted to practice before the Tribal Court of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, Shakopee, Minnesota. Mr. Shoemaker has been selected in the past by his peers as a Super Lawyer. Mr. Shoemaker's present practice includes representation of individuals, partnerships and corporations in a variety of state and federal civil litigation matters, including contested Minnesota divorce and post-decree matters, executive and high asset divorce matters, probate proceedings, and commercial and business litigation claims. In addition, he provides estate planning services, including preparation of complex wills and trusts and devotes substantial time counseling partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations related to the formation, operation, and management of the entity, intellectual property issues, and sale or purchase of business assets and stock. He has served as past Co-Chair of the Hennepin County Bar Association's Community Relations Committee and is a past author/contributor and issue editor of The Hennepin Lawyer. He is an alpine skier and snowboarder and worked as a ski instructor and coach of children in alpine ski racing and snowboarding at Buck Hill, Burnsville, Minnesota for ten years. He enjoys distance running, playing guitar, motorcycling, SCUBA diving, photography, reading fiction and exploring new destinations. He resides in Edina, Minnesota. Military Experience: Mr. Shoemaker served as a combat medical specialist in the 307th Medical Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, United States Army, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1977 to 1980. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service and was the Distinguished Honor Graduate in his basic combat medical training course conducted at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas in 1977. He received EMT training at Fayetteville Technical College, Fayetteville, NC and was certified as a basic emergency medical technician by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians® in 1980.
